Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the
Fall 2006 issue of Antara Kita. Once again, I would also like to
thank those of you who have taken the time to contribute to Antara
Kita. Your efforts help make Antara Kita an important forum where
scholars of Indonesia from around the world can keep up-to-date on
Indonesia and East Timor. As in the past, we welcome short articles,
current books and other media for review, letters from scholars
currently doing research in Indonesia and East Timor, educational
and employment opportunities, announcements of upcoming professional
meetings, and links to other sites that might be of interest to
scholars and others who have a special interest in Indonesia and
East Timor.
Several years ago,
we decided to convert our now-dated Directory of Indonesia Scholars
to a flexible database. We are continuing to work on this and hope
to have it completed soon. In the meantime, please check your entry
in the Directory and send us any changes you would like us to make.
If you are not listed and would like to be, please let us know that
as well.
We will continue
the practice, begun in 2003, in which all Articles and Reviews are
dated as per their date of first placement on the website. In cases
where an Article or Review is later modified (updated), the date of
its most recent update will be added. Meetings and Events and
Educational and Job Opportunities will continue to be added when
received and deleted once past.
If you know of a
book, film, or other media that you would like to see reviewed or
review yourself (you get to keep it books!), please contact:

Don't forget to
check out "Resources for Researchers!" where you will find the
latest edition of "What's Up on the Web" by Elizabeth Coville.
Appearing every two weeks, the current column is at the top of the
page, and all the archived earlier ones are clickable at the bottom.
We are highly
gratified at the response to Antara Kita on-line. Please continue to
let others know about Antara Kita. We want Antara Kita to
increasingly serve the needs of scholars and others interested in
Indonesia and East Timor. To do so, we need YOUR input, so keep us
posted on items of mutual interest.
Wassalam,
