Outcomes of your fieldguides to Indonesian flora and fauna

Over the last few years Kathy MacKinnon and I have been able to find various sources of money within the World Bank to support the production of local language field guides, mainly in Asia. To help our push to get yet more money we need your help.

It would be good to show that there are serious outcomes of these books in terms of capacity building, conservation, changed lives, etc. We would thus like you to send us stories or reactions to the books. The stories can be about individuals, young and old, about bird clubs, about conservation rangers using them, of discovering 'new' species through village people complaining that not all species are presented, etc. We expect a wide range of stories and envisage putting together a short report with boxes
resulting from your assistance.

We would also like to know from you how the books could have been more effective.

The Bahasa Indonesia fieldguides which had World Bank funding were:
  o Indonesian Mangroves
  o Bamboos of Java
o Bamboos of the Lesser Sundas
  o Rare Plants of Indonesia
  o Wild Bananas of Indonesia
  o Mammals of Borneo
  o Primates of Indonesia
  o Common Indonesian Bats
  o Birds of Wallacea
o Birds of Sumatra, Kalimantan. Java and Bali
  o Common Birds of Sulawesi
o Common Birds of Java and Bali
o Common Birds of Kalimantan and Sumatra
  o Birds of Papua
o Turtles and Crocodiles of Indonesia and PNG
  o Frogs of Borneo
o Amphibians of Java and Bali
o Rice Field Snails of Indonesia
  o Dragonflies of Indonesia
  o Wildlife of North Sulawesi
